Jaguar Hunt - Terry Spear

Two opinions, one book!

Jaguar Hunt is the third book in the Heart of the Jaguar series and is easily read as a standalone so if new to Ms Spear's work then have no fear.  I'd always suggest reading a series in order obviously but Ms Spear has done an excellent job here of telling a darn good story with an intriguing plot and filled with characters impossible not to like.

David is an agent working for Jag and it's his mission to keep an eye on a pair of wayward teenage boys who seem to have a knack for getting into mischief.  He overhears a conversation leading him to believe they are somehow involved in the abduction of a jaguar from a zoo so needs to coordinate with the Enforcer who is on the case. The Enforcer is a very desirable Jaguar female called Tammy and right from the first meeting it's clear she's more than a handful!  This fiercely determined woman likes to feel the job always comes first but it's hard to deny the charm that David exudes.  Sent together to Belize to track down the twins David and Tammy uncover the truth about the abduction and along the way find something more precious, love!

I loved Tammy as she was certainly an independent woman who focused so much on being the best she could be but she has serious trust issues. Tammy is not looking for a man and she's certainly not looking for a mate but the irrepressible David is a force to be reckoned with!  What can I say about David?  He's just such a warm character with so much fun hardwired into his nature.  A genuinely lovable rogue that teases the heroine mercilessly but stands strong when it's called for.

I found this book to be a really easy quick read and indeed I stayed up late until I had finished it as I liked the characters so much.  Although a paranormal romance, there's a lot of suspense and action with a mystery to solve.  I really enjoyed the journey Ms Spear takes us on.  Setting the bulk of this book in the jungles of Belize helped add atmosphere and she certainly excels at world building.  The basic mission is a hunt and trust me when I say the twin boys David's tracking are set to lead David and Tammy on a very wild ride! These two boys are far more intelligent than David expected but harnessing their enthusiasm is a job in itself and I'd really like to read more about them both.

Jaguar Hunt sizzles with sexy leads that will leave you breathless.  Prepare for lots of steam in this steamy jungle setting with lots of fun along the way.  Add the essential villains and a captivating storyline and this book is a winner. Sheer entertainment from start to finish!

Review by Dolly:

This was my first read by Ms Spear and I was pleasantly surprised.

What I liked:  I really like humor in my books and Jaguar had several laugh out loud/giggle moments.  While PNR isn't my first choice for reading the synopsis caught my attention.

The main characters have good chemistry but I really enjoyed the twins most of all and hope they eventually get their own story.  The setting was also different and Ms Spear's descriptions paint a good picture for a reader.

What I didn't like:  While I said I like humor in some of my books, sometimes the humor was a bit too cutesy.  I enjoyed the characters more than the plot.  It felt a bit contrived.

Overall, an entertaining read and PNR fans will love it!

Jaguar Hunt is $5.05 in paperback and the Kindle version is $6.15.  At B & N the paperback is $5.15 and the Nook book is $7.49.
