Review: Bound by Flames (Night Prince #3) by Jeaniene Frost

Bound By Flames - Jeaniene Frost

The only thing I should need to say to get your attention is....VLAD!!!

What I liked: While I enjoyed the books I've read or listened to in the Cat and Bones series, this series has had me captivated from the very beginning.  I mean, really, the original Dracula.  The stories abound about him but Ms Frost has portrayed him in a somewhat different light.  He's hot, arrogant, smart and a control freak.  Did I mention he's hot. You don't mess with Vlad or anything Vlad cares about or considers his. If you do, be prepared for the fall out and the destruction to follow.

I loved the opening scene at the ball.  I could not figure out what Leila was up to but the consequences are eye opening.  Leila has grown so dramatically since the first two books.  It was nice to see her coming into her own and not a quivering, unsure individual.  The other good part...Vlad being vulnerable. I was a bit worried that Leila would always be too timid for Vlad. No longer!!

So much happened in the last book that Bound by Flame seemed to move more slowly but boy can Ms Frost pack a story.  I see pictures of her and read her tweets and just can't see her writing the scenes she writes.  What does that mean? Ms Frost writes some of the hottest love scenes I've ever read.  Notice I said "love scenes" and not sex.  She takes the time for the reader to feel the emotions and enjoy the seduction.  Not only that but the violence of some of the stories made me cringe.  The torture of a main character had me peeking through my fingers!! I was looking around my family room for the bad guys.  Ms Frost is inventive and boy can you buy into not only the story but the feelings she evokes.

All my favorite characters from the Night Huntress world made some kind of appearance in Bound by Flames and it more than lived up to my expectations; most especially Leila.  She is coming into her own in all ways. No longer timid, she's grown to be an excellent partner for Vlad.

What I didn't like:  Yeah, I got nothing!!

I am honestly on pins and needles waiting for the last book in the series even though I don't want it to end. Ms Frost is very honest in her writing. She tells the story she wants to tell and ends the series.  Hopefully though, we'll get to see other characters have a book or two!! HINT, Ian!!! Please!!

Highly Recommended!!!!!
